The world’s introduction to Google Duplex was done by Google CEO Sundar Pichai in May 2018 during the developer’s conference.

The technology introduced was both impressive and a bit creepy as it featured a human-sounding robot having a conversation with a person who couldn’t even tell that they were talking to a robot.

For the people who are new to the topic… Google Duplex is an advancement made in the Google voice recognition system which offers voice commands, voice searching, and voice-activated device control, letting you complete several tasks after you’ve said the “OK Google” or “Hey Google” wake words.

Well, with Google Duplex you can ask Google Assistant to call businesses for you to make reservations, book appointments, get hours of operation, and more.

The exciting and also a bit creepy part is that Assistant has a natural-sounding human voice instead of a robotic one! We don’t know why Google has decided to go with a human voice but they have certainly nailed it!

Google Duplex

Google has updated its AI assistant which is now able to understand complex sentences, fast speech, and long remarks, and can book appointments and reservations wherever you want.

Google Duplex is so good that the person talking to it might never know they are talking to AI. It is programmed in such a way that it responds with correct answers to that real person’s inquiries and questions and they even put in words like “um” and pause breaks to make it sound more like a real human.

This is why Google assistance is probably the most advanced and dynamic of the assistants out there. Though being the best one, people still have expressed concerns about Google Duplex.

Google already knows where you work, your meetings and travel plans, the sports teams you like, and what interests you… so no doubt people are worried about privacy and security.

Although these computer systems can be helpful, businesses such as doctors and lawyers who regularly schedule clients could have the A.I. do that on their behalf. Also, many companies which rely on customer bookings can use this to ease their work.

So where you can find Google Duplex?

It is now only launched for Google Pixel series like Pixel XL, Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL, Pixel 3, and Google Pixel 3 XL but Google is also planning to start a rollout to any Android devices running version 5.0 or newer.

Duplex is already available in most of the US and also recently went live in New Zealand, Australia, Canada, and the UK.
