Where Apple is considered the fashion brand and Samsung’s Galaxy range is considered the top dog for Android, also OnePlus, Asus, and Xiaomi have taken over the good cheap phones category… Sony seems to have lost somewhere in the competition.
Sony Mobile has earned practically ZERO % market shares for a couple of years now. We don’t know why people have lost interest in Sony smartphones because these phones also have a unique bunch of other stuff that you won’t find on any other phone.
But all of these lead to one question… Why don’t people buy Sony Smartphones? And we think we have an answer for this. But first, just have a look at the modern-day Sony smartphone.
Sony Xperia 1 ii is one of the recently launched smartphones from Sony. One of the best things you will notice in the phone is its biggest display. Though having a 21×9 screen ratio, the phone feels more comfortable in the hand.
You also get a 6-and-a-half 4K screen, which is crazy because it’s been a long time since to had such a screen on the market. Thanks to this you get 2160 options on YouTube which is as good as any other smartphone in the market.
The phone is also equipped with a headphone jack and a tool-less micro HD card and sim card slot which we do not find on today’s flagship phones. One of the biggest surprises you will find when you open the box is that along with a bunch of bundles floating around you will find Sony’s world-class 350 dollars headphones… FREE!
Talking about cameras, all the best smartphone cameras, Pixel cameras, iPhone cameras, Samsung cameras… Sony makes all of the sensors for all these phones. So no doubt, the Sony Xperia 1 ii camera is a technical masterpiece and straight up the best camera of the year.
Okay so in the first place our first question that ‘Why don’t more people buy this awesome phone is because the Sony smartphone has a very small amount of percentage in the overall smartphone market. Sony doesn’t have a high level of sales on mobile phones compared to other companies.
Sony phones are suffering from the same stuff as LG lately, which is the inability to properly launch phones for the customers. For example, iPhones are notoriously very good at launching their phones. They will have an event, then next week you can pre-book, and then they will be available everywhere in the market.
Xperia 1 was revealed in May 2020 and then it was launched in Oct 2020… so now you know why people avoid buying Sony smartphones. People like to buy phones when the hype is on just after the announcement of the phone is done.
It is crazy that Sony makes such interesting compelling phones and they don’t plan their execution process. This may be the reason why their sales have been decreased for the past couple of years.
