How to Choose the Right Dahua Transmission Device?

For comprehensive security solutions, connecting camera PoE Dahua devices while providing efficient data and power transmission, Dahua transmission devices are recommended. There are not one or two but several Dahua transmission devices on the market, helping in different applications. And the best thing about them is their features.

For example, the network switches allow long-distance signaling without replacing cable or switch infrastructure in future-proof video surveillance systems. The ePoE devices are 100% backward compatible with PoE. They eliminate the need for multiple switches because they connect IP cameras through category or coaxial cable. Both in wired and wireless devices, there is a switch or accessory that offers long-distance cabling options and saves time and money.

These are a few examples of Dahua’s transmission devices with their roles and benefits in the industry.

As there are many Dahua transmission devices, the selection becomes difficult. Most people end up choosing the wrong device and suffer consequences later. To make the selection easy for you, we will list some important points to consider.

You should know your specifications.

Dahua transmission devices are not one-fit solutions for all, meaning you cannot use any product at any time. You must know your specifications. If the devices are used as per the specifications, the results are great.

If it’s a wired transmission, the right switch for the application will depend on the distance you need to cover, the number of devices you need to connect, and the speed of the network. On all PoE ports, you don’t need a gigabit connection. Mostly, the IP cameras require only 1–15 Mbps bandwidth. Considering this, you should look for a 10/100 Mbps connection. The best is to choose a switch with gigabit uplink ports. With this, there will be enough aggregate bandwidth for all connected IP cameras on the main camera PoE Dahua network.

The average power consumption of the IP camera is around 8W but this might increase during the power-on surge. So, you should specify a bit higher.

You should consider the features that you truly need

As already said, Dahua transmission devices come with different features, and all of the features are beneficial. If you pay attention to all the features even if they are not required, you can complicate things. Chances are that the extra features might disturb your actual work and lead to unmanageable problems.

One of the most advanced network features that you might not need when choosing a PoE switch for an IP camera system is VLAN. As the PoE switch is normally used at the edge of the network, you won’t need the most complex or costliest features for the same.

If not a PoE switch, you should use a managed switch. The managed switches offered by Dahua can remotely configure, camera PoE Dahua manage, and monitor your LAN and switch options. Also, the managed switches allow the admin to cycle power remotely to an IP camera, easily rebooting it without a technician.

You should leverage ePoE for cost-efficiency

Dahua’s patented Enhanced Power Over Ethernet (ePoE) technology is something that other brands don’t offer. The technology is the industry’s most flexible line of transmission devices. The ePoE technology is compatible with Dahua’s ePoE cameras for extended distances and third-party.

Between an IP camera and a switch, the ePoE technology transmits video, data, and power up to 800 m (2624 ft.) via a single CAT5E. This is eight times longer than standard IP cameras and other devices in the industry.

ePoE is a cost-effective option and there are many reasons for the same. The ePoE technology requires fewer midspan devices to connect all the front-end devices to the back-end devices over 100 meters, which is very long. Other than this, the technology avoids expensive fiber solutions at distances up to 800 meters. Last but not least, the ePoE technology provides extended distances over coaxial cable with adapters.

The best thing about ePoE technology is that it reduces installation costs and time if used with existing infrastructure.

You should use wireless devices for challenging environments

During mining operations, in rural areas, and on construction sites, there are non-conducive applications to laying cables. If you are working in these places or conditions, prefer wireless Dahua transmission devices. The wireless devices create bridges to transmit data without cabling.

With Dahua, you will find a wireless base station and wireless CPE with advanced radio cores. The radio cores contain 5Ghz MIMO 2×2 technology with directional antennas that provide reliable connectivity. There are options to configure the base stare and CPE as point-to-point, point-to-multipoint, or back-to-back.

The company recommends two CPEs for point-to-point configuration because it’s more cost-effective. Between two CPEs, one is configured in AP mode and another is in station mode. One base station is recommended for a point-to-multipoint connection. The base station has a wider wireless and higher capacity that works in AP mode. The AP is paired with several CPEs that work in station mode.

Regarding back-to-back configuration, it is suitable for areas very different from those of point-to-point and point-to-multipoint configurations. Where there is an obstacle such as a building between the client and AP and the device of the client is unable to transmit data to the center AP directly, the back-to-back configuration is preferred. There is a method in it to adjust the angle of transmission.

Undoubtedly, the Dahua transmission devices will make things easy for you and save you money. But it’s only possible if you choose the right device considering the points discussed in this post.
