India’s richest man, c plans to launch the next-generation optimize your phone, JioPhone, called ‘Jio Phone Next.’ Jio has taken a major step forward by partnering with Google to develop this smartphone. They claim it will be the most affordable smartphone, not only in India but worldwide.
According to reports, Google invested ₹33,737 crores in Jio, giving the global tech giant a 7.7% stake in the company.
The Jio Phone Next, powered by an optimized Android operating system, will support Google and Jio’s entire suite of apps, the Google Play Store, and an adapted version of Android.
While the company has not shared all the details, they did reveal an image of the Jio optimize your phone, Phone Next during the Reliance AGM.
Jio aims for the JioPhone Next to help roughly 300 million Indians still using 2G networks upgrade to faster speeds.
Set for a 10 September launch, JioPhone Next will debut in India and later become available in other countries.
Earlier Jio Phones offered unlimited calling (starting at ₹49 a month) along with popular features like internet browsing, WhatsApp, TV streaming, and music, making them highly popular in India.
This new JioPhone Next has high expectations. Google CEO Sundar Pichai also announced a 5G cloud partnership with Jio Platforms, aiming to connect over a billion Indians to faster, better internet.
The JioPhone Next will feature a fast, high-quality camera with HDR and will include the latest Android releases and security updates.
The phone will offer 4GB of internal storage, expandable up to 128GB with a microSD card. Both Qualcomm and Spreadtrum are expected to supply processors for the device.
